Ryan Charles is an editor, post-production guru and Final Cut Pro X enthusiast (though he is comfortable editing in ANY program) currently residing in Brooklyn, NYC.
To date he has cut 4 feature narratives, a handful of shorts and is currently editing his 3rd feature documentary, PEACE PILGRIM: The Road To Happiness, due out Fall 2019 from Wakan Films-- a frequent collaborator with Ryan's.
After graduating with a BFA from the HARTT School of Theater in 2007 Ryan moved to NYC and co-directed and edited his first feature film, ALL GOD'S CREATURES, which sold at the AFM (American Film Market) in 2011.
Moving to Los Angeles in 2012 Ryan ended up hooking up with Khashyar Darvich, filmmaker and Wakan Films founder, for whom he cut DALAI LAMA'S COMPASSION IN ACTION, the third in a series of films about His Holiness. Ryan subsequently worked on the marketing and distribution team for this and another film, helping to book them into over 60 screenings across the US and Canada (many of them sold out!).
After moving back to NYC in 2015 Ryan embarked on a new path, an MFA Program at the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema at Brooklyn College. Located at Steiner Studios in Brooklyn, Ryan will be receiving his Masters in Post-Production this spring and has a slew of short films attached with his experience there that will be seeing the light of day in the coming year.
Ryan is also co-founder of Nitty Gritty Studios , an independent production company as well as the operator of FCPX Marks The Spot , a Final Cut Pro X (10) resource center with tutorials, articles and the FCPX Marks The Spot Crash Course.
In addition to his editorial prowess, Ryan has also Produced projects from his own micro-budget features to forthcoming short films and currently has several projects being packaged for production in the coming year he is very excited about!
